Can Asian Beetles Harm Humans?
Asian beetles are typically harmless but they have been known to “bite” the skin where they land. This is actually more of a scrape, but it can be a real nuisance. In addition, Asian beetles can secrete a yellow liquid when they feel threatened. This liquid can damage your property including fabrics and furniture.
Difference Between a Ladybug and an Asian Beetle?
Asian beetles and ladybugs look very similar, but if you look closely enough you can spot a few small differences. Here are a few things to watch when determining whether you have an Asian beetle infestation or a ladybug infestation in your home:
• Color – Ladybugs have a bright red coloring, whereas the color of Asian beetles can vary. You will likely see Asian beetles that are varying shades of orange, red or tan.
• Size – Asian beetles are slightly larger than ladybugs though this difference can be hard to spot unless you’re looking at the two bug species side by side.
• Shape – Ladybugs have more of a round shape whereas Asian beetles are more oval in shape.
• Black marking – Another way to spot an Asian beetle is to look for a black shaped “M” on their heads.
